I really enjoyed reading this article. I was immediately hooked by the idea of using Explain Everything as a tool for students to describe a process or idea to a teacher. An assessment done using a screen casting program like this is more valuable than a traditional assessment because not only do you see the result of a student's work, you also get to see their thought processes as they work through an idea or problem. I will be using this idea in our iPad classrooms at my schools.
I also really like Google Docs as an assessment tool. When used in conjunction with Flubaroo, as was demonstrated in class, this is a great way to administer and grade assessments. This probably doesn't add much value to what you might get with a traditional assessment, but it can make it easier for teachers to share and grade assessments. I does give flexibility in the way tests are administered. Teachers can give assessments online and collect live data at any point during the assessment. I would like to experiment more with this and as I get more comfortable with this tool, I will be sharing this with teachers at my schools as well.
