The last four steps of the analysis process are the most interesting to me. Especially as a teacher of adults, I think setting goals, gathering information, determining the structure of the training and the delivery methods are critical for the success of the training. I will be revisiting these concepts often as I prepare to teach various courses in the coming months.
Chapter 4 of "ISD From the Ground Up" covers the first of five parts of the ADDIE model: Analysis. My notes from reading this chapter are pasted below. When I initially ready about the Analysis stage of the ADDIE Model in the previous chapter, I thought this would be primarily about data collection. I, like most teachers, am less interested in data collection and more interested in delivering instruction. However, this chapter helped me understand that data collection can come in the form of determining the training need, setting goals for the training, determining the prior knowledge of the class as well as the demographics of the class. This type of data collection is interesting to me and are some of the things I have been working at doing better with as a teacher.
